<01> the sun it has passed, now it's blacker than black
[action a; 1667 Nelson]
[Is there really a way to be calm about waking up in a strange place? Whatever the method, Zuko's not very good at it; it's understandable, what with the explosive attempts on his life and the being knocked out in the snow and the waking up in a comfortable bed, sans all of his things, most notably his scar and firebending. His wounds from the assassination attempt are gone too... he takes the time to get dressed (and tear up a shirt so he can tie his hair back) before slinking downstairs, tense, ready to pounce on anything in his way. He has no bending, but he can still fight.
...ooh, kitchen. Knives. Perfect. He takes two of the sharpest ones, because dual-wielding is the best kind. Housemates, he is very jumpy. Be aware.]
[action b, around town]
[There's a weird, muscular kid with a ponytail slinking around town, two knives stuck through his pockets and out through the sides of his pants - just leaving them in the pockets caused said pockets to just rip open on their own. He might approach, or he might just continue acting suspicious - there is nothing about this situation that he trusts. It has to be a trick.
Being without his scar... his mark, his brand... it's surreal. He can still see it in his mind, but it's not there. He doesn't even know how people will react to him without it, or if they even will at all.]

[She approaches him, hand on the hilt of her sword.]
You must be new, but at least you have the brains to grab some type of weapon.

New? Who are you? Tell me everything you know!

This (http://flowers-suck.livejournal.com/1397.html#cutid2) will help explain things. It's messy, but I had to hand copy it.

But he must admit. He's impressed by your decision to immediately arm yourself.]
A wise choice, young man.
A
Who are you?
[Notably more calm than he might usually be. It probably has something to do with the compliment.]

[He'll just go to the cupboard, getting two glasses before heading towards the stove and a kettle.]
You've currently been kidnapped by a group of people who wish you to act the part of a "son" in a make-believe family in this town, modeled after the 1950s America if that means anything to you. You can usually get away with not following its rules, although not doing so enough or loud enough can result in punishment.
I fill the role of the father in this house, though I have no intention of lording over or commanding you. You may do as you please as long as you also grant me my space.
Would you like some tea?

Are weapons needed on such a frequent basis that you insist on carrying them around? At least invest in a proper holster to prevent your pants from ripping!
